The W204 C-Class has one of the most diverse grille menus of any modern Mercedes — which is great for customization and slightly annoying if you're just trying to order a replacement. AMG style, Avantgarde style, Diamond mesh, C63-specific, pre-facelift vs post-facelift, LED illuminated… the list goes on. Here's how to navigate all of it without accidentally ordering a grille that doesn't fit your bumper.
The Most Important Split: 2008–2011 vs 2012–2014
The W204 received a significant facelift in 2012. The front bumper changed, which means grille fitment changed too. This is the single biggest fitment decision for the W204:
- 2008–2011 (pre-facelift): Original front fascia. Wider grille opening, specific mounting clip pattern.
- 2012–2014 (post-facelift): Revised front bumper with different aperture dimensions and mounting locations.
Order the wrong year range and nothing will line up. When in doubt, check your VIN or look at your front bumper: the pre-facelift has a more rounded lower bumper profile; the post-facelift is sharper and more angular.

Avantgarde Style Grille
Mercedes' own Avantgarde trim brought a single-louvre grille with a sportier horizontal bar. This style mimics that factory Avantgarde look — understated but more dynamic than the base Elegance trim's vertical-bar design. Great for owners with Avantgarde-equipped cars who need a replacement, or base-trim owners who want that factory upgrade look.

AMG Style Grille
The original AMG-inspired mesh design for the pre-facelift W204. Single horizontal bar with AMG-style mesh insert. This is the "I want it to look like a C63" classic choice — assertive, well-proportioned, and one of the best-sellers in the W204 lineup.

C63 AMG Style Grilles (2008–2011)
The W204 C63 AMG used a slightly different, more aggressive grille treatment. These styles replicate that C63 look on non-AMG cars — or replace a worn C63 grille on the real thing. There are two variants in this family:
- 09-C63 Style — Replicates the early C63 grille from the 2009 model year. → 09-C63 Style Grille
- 2012-C63 Style (applied to pre-facelift cars) — Brings the post-facelift C63 aesthetic onto the older bumper for a "refreshed" look. Two versions available: standard and a revised NEW TYPE version with updated detailing.
Diamond Grille
Diamond-pattern mesh insert, modern look, becoming increasingly popular on the W204 as a distinctive alternative to the traditional horizontal-bar AMG styles.
Illuminated LED Star Grille (AMG 1-Fin)
For owners who want the full presence package: a backlit Mercedes star in the grille center, visible at night. Fits 2008–2013 (spans both year groups on this model). Unique, conversation-starting, and surprisingly subtle in daylight.

Installation Notes
All W204 grilles are direct bolt-on replacements. The pre-facelift and post-facelift grilles both use plastic clip systems with two bolts at the top. Budget 30–45 minutes. The LED Star grille will require routing a power connection to the star emblem — instructions are included and it's a very manageable DIY job.

No — the bumper aperture dimensions and mounting locations are different. You must match your year range.
Will a C63 AMG style grille fit my C300 or C350?
Yes — these are bolt-on aftermarket grilles that fit the standard W204 bumper regardless of your engine variant. The C63 grilles designed for the actual C63 AMG bumper (which is slightly different) are noted as such.
What year is my car exactly?
Check your build sheet or the vehicle label inside the driver's door jamb. If still unsure, your VIN will confirm the model year and we can verify fitment for you.
Does the Diamond grille affect airflow?
No meaningful airflow difference for street use. The diamond mesh is still an open pattern that allows adequate airflow to the radiator.
